Bass played in 20 games for the Bears in 2013-14, and tallied 32 tackles and four sacks. But he was released by the Bears prior to the 2015 season, and claimed off waivers by the Titans.

Bass has played in 27 games for the Titans since.“I have great memories from being there,” Bass said of his time with the Bears. “That’s kind of where it all started, and it’s where I built my foundation. So it will be good to go back and face the old team, and coaches and players.”

The preseason finale will hold special significance for the Dolphins and South Florida. The Dolphins are rechristening Hard Rock Stadium against the Titans after significant offseason renovations to the venue, which originally opened in 1987. The new features include an open air canopy covering most of the seats and new video boards, among other upgrades. The Dolphins were the visitors in the first two weeks of the preseason, and last week they hosted and defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Orlando.

Miami is in its first season with Adam Gase as head coach. He was hired after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2015 and the previous six years with the Denver Broncos. Gase’s staff includes three former Titans assistant coaches: linebackers coach Matt Burke, wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson and senior defensive assistant/pass rush specialist Jim Washburn.

Last week in Orlando, the Dolphins improved to 2-1 this preseason with a 17-6 win over the Falcons. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill passed for 155 yards, and running back Arian Foster rushed for a touchdown in the win.

On Sunday, the Titans will face Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

“They have a great group of guys up front,’’ Casey said. “The scheme that they run is kind of tricky, because they have so many formations and things they do. But we will be ready to go.”

The Titans plan to look more closely at new offensive lineman Josh Kline next week in an tennessee titans jersey cheap effort to build depth at multiple positions.

“He can do some good things for you at guard, but actually we’re going to (work him) at center next week,’’ Mularkey said of Kline, who was claimed off waivers from the Patriots earlier this month. “When he goes into a game he has to obviously know both positions very well. We started him off a little bit on the slow end, trying to make sure he has all the guard stuff down. But center will come into play next week.”

Kline (6-3, 300) played in 14 games for the Patriots last season, including 13 starts – seven at right guard and six at left guard. He also started at left guard for both of the team’s playoff contests. Originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Kline has played in 33 games over the past three seasons, with 18 starts.

The defense once again struggled out of the gate, however, before eventually settling down and making some big plays of their own.

“It’s something that we’ve still been working on,’’ Casey said. “We have to get off to faster starts. Once we come off and understand what we’ve done wrong, we can come back real fast and clean up our mistakes. The thing is, we’re trying to get the game started off the way we want to. But we’re going to stick together. We don’t play any blame games. If we get beat up front, or our DBs get beat on the back end, we’re going to come together and figure out as a unit. We’re going to clean it up together and make things happen.”

The Titans stopped the Raiders on fourth down inside the 10-yard line near the end of the half, and in the second half got a defensive score when linebacker Sean Spenceleveled Washington, and fellow linebacker David Bass picked it up and ran it back for a 47-yard score.

Titans defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau is also high on Dodd. “He’s showed us pretty much what we saw on the college tape, which is the reason we took him so high,” LeBeau said. “He’s got really good length. He’s a big guy. He’s very close to a 4-3 defensive end, but he has movement skills for an outside linebacker.

“I think this is a good fit for him, and he’s a good fit for us. I think he’s going to be an effective pass rusher. He’s not shown me anything to deter from what I thought watching him play in college.”

A year later, Bass is feeling more comfortable. And he’s been playing like it.

Spence got it all started in the third quarter when he delivered a bone-crushing hit on Raiders running back DeAndre Washington after he caught a pass from quarterback Matt McGloin. Washington went flying, the ball popped out, and Bass picked it up and started running toward the end zone.

Bass made it, of course. His 47-yard return was the final score in Tennessee’s 27-14 win over the Raiders.
“It was on the go last year,’’ Bass said. “I am still learning, and really, you can never learn too much. I am always trying to build chemistry and get more comfortable in the playbook. But I’ve had a whole offseason to work at things I needed to improve on from last year, switching to a 3-4… and I think I am better with the playbook, and making plays.
